Nivea vs. La Mer
I’ll let you ladies in on a secret: there’s no difference between La Mer Moisturizing Cream and NIVEA Creme. The texture is the same, and even the smell is the same: luxury, roses and powder. Because it’s 2014 and someone encapsulated a perfect wedding day into a face creme.
I’ve tried both. One is $250, and the other is $5 at the drugstore. Can you guess which price goes with which?
My grandmother and aunts all used NIVEA Creme their entire lives, and you just gotta take my word for it… they all aged beautifully.

I am about to give you guys the GREATEST vegan pumpkin cupcake recipe ever! No fail in making these! It’s super easy if you just follow the recipe… they come out so flavorful, moist (I know everyone hates that word), and they don’t taste vegan.
Here’s the link to the recipe: http://indianapublicmedia.org/eartheats/vegan-pumpkin-cupcakes/

Best Tinted Lip Balms
After trying almost everything on the market (being a beauty junkie and working at Nordstrom), these are my top 3 favorites.
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment ($25) - Sephora, Nordstrom
One of Sephora’s best sellers, this sugar treatment is the best for your lips and has a beautiful, natural finish.
Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm ($5) - Local drug store, Target
Great texture, and beautiful finish.
Mabelline Baby Lips ($3) - Local drug store, Target, Fred Meyer
Great texture, smell & finish. It tastes good too, so you can’t go wrong with that. The grape flavor for sure reminds me of my 5th grade self, collecting all of the Lip Smackers back in the 90s and playing with those Cabbage Patch Kids with the scented hair. This for sure softens your lips after one use! There’s a real reason why it’s called baby lips! Really though.

This is the most amazing lip balm I have ever tried!
EOS Lip Balm ($3), found at your neighborhood drug store, Target, Fred Meyer, you name it. These have become super popular after celebrities such as Kim K and Miley have photographed themselves using it, but this goes past the fade. Not only are they 100% organic, but the texture is perfect on the lips, stays on for a long time, and tastes yummy. They come in all kinds of flavors, such as strawberry, pomegranate raspberry, melon, vanilla, and my favorite sweet mint, which has menthol in it giving your lips the “cooling effect” that most people love.
Burts Bees was my top favorite in the lip balm department for over 10 years, but EOS has changed everything.
Grab one today! You won’t regret it!

This is currently my favorite night creme on the market right now. It’s called Burt’s Bees Beeswax Moisturizing Night Creme ($15). They are super hard to find in stores (I actually spent 2 years looking for this… not super hard, but just now and then). I fell in love with this creme back in 2010 when my friend was using it. We went to Germany together for 3 weeks, and she let me use this night creme a few times when I forgot mine. I totally fell in love. It smells faintly like roses, and it’s very emollient. I love super emollient cremes just because I believe that wrinkles are 60% preventable, and the richer the creme you use (especially around the eye area), the more you’re able to prevent them (I also recommend an organic/vegan diet and plenty of water and SPF!). Anyway, it left my skin dewey and glowing before I went to bed, and the next morning my skin felt so soft! You can even rub a little bit of this into the apples of your cheeks for a dewey day look.
Finally found out that they carry this at PCC! Not all PCC’s… but I’ve spotted them at two (Issaquah and downtown Kirkland). Don’t mix this up with the Burt’s Bees Radiance Night Creme! This is the original. I believe they also sell this on their website.
So this is what I’m currently using now, after happily finding it PCC. Been using it ever since!

O.O. Denny Park, Juanita (Kirkland), WA!
Short, very easy hike, 1.2 miles! Also great for running, and it goes in a loop. There’s also a beach on the other side of this park which is dog and kid friendly. Lots of grass to run in, and the beach is so peaceful.

I have found the perfect red lipstick for all skin colors!
I used to recommend this to all of my customers when I was working at Nordstrom, and it seriously looks good on everyone.
You ready for this? It’s a NARS pure matte lipstick ($26) in "Vesuvio". 100% matte finish, never drying, and you can “dare” to leave you lipstick at home (even though I would never recommend this)! Seriously. One application of this goes a long way, and you probably won’t have to reply after your meal (although I would for precautionary measures). This is the most perfect, rich, red.
I pulled this picture of the model from the internet, to show you the most accurate color of the lipstick. Seriously! This is a beauty must-have to add to your collection, and it’s great for a night out on the town. It knocks Chanel and Mac lipsticks out of the ball park. For real.

"Paradise Valley Conservation Area"
hiked at an awesome wildlife reserve in woodinville, wa today! it’s 10 miles total with multiple points, but my friend and i only hiked about 4 miles of it.
super easy hike, if you just want to “get down with nature” without breaking a sweat, touching nature or suffering from sore muscles later on. it’s not very hilly, which is great for lazy runners or dirt bikers. the scenery is absolutely breathtaking, and there are crazy microclimates going on in this forest! every few steps, the air around me would feel incredibly warm (making me feel nostalgic for summer) or freezing cold (appropriate for january). there is also a crazy diversity of trees and other plants. this hike was super enjoyable and not difficult at all.
